About Vellichor

Vellichor Manor Press is an independent publisher devoted to atmospheric Gothic, horror, historical, and esoteric fiction—works concerned with old houses and older secrets, inherited mysteries, forgotten histories, hidden societies, and those uncertain places where the rational world encounters something it cannot readily explain.

The press takes its name from vellichor: the peculiar atmosphere of old books and places where books have accumulated—the sense that every volume has passed through other hands, other rooms, and other lives before arriving in one’s own.

The Manor

Vellichor Manor is not so much a place on a map as an idea: a private library after dusk, a lamp burning over an unfinished manuscript, a locked room whose key has survived its owner, an old book containing a notation no one remembers making.

It is from that imagined house that Vellichor Manor Press takes its character.

Our Publishing Philosophy

Vellichor Manor Press is devoted to books made for keeping. We favor atmospheric fiction with a strong sense of place, carefully considered typography and design, and stories that reward the reader who lingers over them.

Our aim is not simply to produce books that are read, but volumes that seem to belong on a shelf long after the final page has been turned.
